YET ANOTHER G-7 meeting has passed with yet another embarrassing show of insecurity by a group that is well past its sell-by date.
The G-7 is such an anachronism, a relic of the past clinging on to a crumbling façade of make-believe power in a rapidly changing world.
The images and the narrative all speak to insecurity, a fear of change, inability to adapt, rejection of progress, exceptionalism, preservation of privilege and the need to maintain Western hegemony.
Almost everything said by its leaders and reported by a compliant mainstream global media is anti-China.
Some of it was so crude and framed with such inherent prejudice one wonders if there is even a comms or PR team advising them.
Might as well rebrand
They seem to be mired in a toxic swamp of their own making. They might as well rebrand as CPC7 (China Protest Coalition 7) or the CR7 (China Resistance 7).
It is worth reminding the world that six of these seven are from the West which only represents less than 15% of the global population and their histories are riddled with colonisation, plunder, and the destruction of indigenous communities.
Their current foreign policies seem focused on one goal: maintaining the status quo and the privileges borne out of conquest and domination.
The following diagram provides an interesting insight. Of the six largest nations in the world (by land area), three (US, Canada, Australia) were created through conquest and the annihilation of indigenous people.
All three are Anglo-Saxon, seemingly borne of a masterplan to steal land and treasure. Brazil was also the creation of European conquest.
Two of the three and the empire that spawned the plundering are now members of the G7. Go figure.
It is past due for the G-7 to recognise the latent fatal flaw in its own history and creation–which directly translates into how it wants to shape the world today—before calling out others through the lens of prejudice and ultimately risking the creation of a future characterised by conflict in the process.
If it does, future generations will refer to it as the dawn of a New Western Enlightenment.
