While the world discussed the Games, Israel was focused on rape

Israeli and Palestinian flags on a brick wall with blood splatters.

In the second and last week of the Paris Olympics, most of the world was discussing sporting performances and medal tallies.

But in Israel, the discussion was focused on rape. More specifically the rape of Palestinian prisoners by Israeli soldiers, at a military base known as Sde Teiman.

The use of rape at this centre was revealed by Israeli TV Channel 12, showing footage in which soldiers gathered around to block footage of an alleged rape in progress.

While media in Western countries tiptoe around criticism of Israel as though they are walking on hot coals, this Israeli TV channel had a different approach. The footage was aired on August 6.

An Israeli lawmaker, Hanoch Milwidsky, was asked whether it was legitimate “to insert a stick into a person’s rectum?”

“Yes!” he shouted in reply to his fellow parliamentarian. “If he is a Nukhba [Hamas militant], everything is legitimate to do! Everything!”

The following video provides background and also shows the extent to which such practices are defended in Israel.
