We appear to be returning to an age of witches and hobgoblins, with the availability of what should be normal democratic processes being abused by the irrational, the blindingly ignorant and the shoddily devious. They appear to be succeeding in slowing down and possibly stopping the move to a renewable energy future free from climate change.
If we are to ever match China in our ability to achieve progress in such matters, it is vital that objection processes for vital infrastructure projects are based on established facts and rational argument, not on lies, fantasy and the promotion of existing special interests, like the current coal-dependent energy industry.
If not, our democratic instincts will continue to be hijacked to guarantee we remain captives of the past and of devious special interest groups!
