The scale of expenditure of this project and its future impact on Australia means that of all the matters that warrant an investigation by a Royal Commission, the NBN should have one. The Royal Commissions into unions and into the home insulation scheme are small beer in the scheme of things compared to the NBN. I think such an enquiry may help to establish some necessary measures of transparency when government undertakes future major projects like this.
